2023/2024 Challenges
Book Dust Cover - to be judged at the May meeting
Luisa was inspired to make a book cover after visiting a museum with old and rare books. She found that William Morris fabric in particular recaptured the look. There are some Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics that look similar.
Instructions:
Measure the book cover with the book closed; this allows for thickness. My book measured 11 1/2 wide by 8 1/2 high.
I added 4 inches to width (to allow for folding to the inside) to get 15 1/2 and added 2 inches to height to get 10 1/2.
I used 1/4 seam allowance.
I did mine in two fabrics, one for the inside and one for the outside with light batting.
I placed my fabrics right sides together with the light batting on top and sewed around the edges, leaving an unstitched space on one side for turning.
I turned it right-side out.
Top stitch.
Voila! Done.
