December 2021 via Zoom - Sheila Frampton Cooper
When award-winning artist Sheila Frampton Cooper creates, she revels in the spontaneous. Her free-form process with its surprising twists and turns inevitably delivers her to a place of unfiltered originality where her bold work unapologetically commands attention.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Sheila showed a strong-willed, artistic temperament from an early age and has been creating art since her earliest memories. When she was 19 she lived in Italy, France and Belgium, and upon her return, embarked with a vengeance down her creative path. Several years later as a single mom working hard to provide for her two young sons, she painted in the evenings as a creative outlet. One night as she was working, she looked at the painting and thought, “I don't like this,” so she dipped the brush in paint and started throwing it around in a frenzy. Then something magical happened—there was a whole scene on the canvas that just flowed out. That moment profoundly changed her.
From years of oil, acrylic and watercolor painting to jewelry-making and architectural photography, it has been a surprising leap to her current passion of studio art quilts. Her greatest affinity lies with improvisational piecing, as well as painting with thickened dyes and various aspects of surface design. Whether it’s a butterfly on her windowsill, a bird in her garden or the colors of a tropical fish, Sheila finds inspiration in the natural world as well as the bustling metropolis. This duality manifests itself in her work through bold, graphic designs juxtaposed with more quiet and flowing, amorphous creations.
Sheila is also a passionate teacher and has shared her process in workshops around the world. She says, "Another wonderful change quilting brought into my life was the opportunity to teach. It is a privilege for me to witness what my students accomplish in 2-5 days! I am honored to hold the space and guide them as they discover the freedom, joy, and for some, the discomfort that comes from not knowing the outcome of their creations".
Since embarking on her fiber art adventure in 2010, Sheila has won awards at major quilt shows, including: IQA World of Beauty in Houston, AQS Show in Paducah and Road to California. Her work has been exhibited in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Carole Lyles Shaw - Quilt Designer | Workshop Teacher | Author.
I started teaching myself to quilt when I decided to make quilts for my wonderful nieces and nephews. Then, I found my first quilting home with the African American Quilters of Baltimore, who gently taught me the best techniques to express my quilt vision.
Today, I design patterns to help beginning and experienced quilters confidently dive into modern quilting. I am excited about modern quilting because it is all about bringing individualism and free expression to the way we design and make quilts today. I hope that my patterns will inspire you to find ways to let your own creative voice shine.
I lecture and teach live virtual and on-demand classes on modern quilting techniques for beginning and experienced quilters. I hope that you will consider inviting me to share my love of modern quilting with your group! On this site, I’ve provided descriptions of the lectures and workshops that I offer—and please do get in touch with me if you have additional questions.

Confessions of a Hex Addict
I have a confession to make about my Confessions - I hate Y-seams! After a brief look at English Paper Piecing we will spend the rest of the hour exploring the many ways of constructing hexie and half-hexie quilts using a variety of settings to avoid those pesky Y-seams. We'll check out a few specialty rulers and also discuss patterns that use only standard rulers. In addition to the tried and true, some new designs will also be presented, fresh from my design wall.

May 2022 - Krista Moser
Diamonds are a Quilter's Best Friend
Krista tells her story, how she started very young and went on to design her own quilts and patterns. She typically works in design concepts and color theory while showing different quilts. She loves to do Q&A if there’s time! It's always a crowd-pleaser.
Krista Moser is the creative force and inspiration behind The Quilted Life. A quilting and fiber arts enthusiast, she started sewing at 8 years old sneaking off to the sewing machine during her Mom's nap time. Since she couldn’t read patterns, everything was made from her imagination propelling the creativity and the innovative design she is known for today. She began her professional sewing and machine quilting career at the spunky age of fourteen adding the texture and dimension machine quilting brings to every project.
She has been teaching sewing and quilting lessons for more than twenty years. Her work has been featured in quilting magazines, published by Martingale Press, and hung in prominent quilt shops around the country.
It's probably genetic ;-) and the Grandma's would be proud. What a life, this Quilted Life is, and what a joy to share the journey!
