Program for October 10, 2018: Internationally-Known Jack Edson
By day he is the Director of the Hamburg Library in N.Y. Jack Edson, librarian, quilter, collector, has been putting together the pieces, one way or another, all of his life. His work uses faces of his favorite artists, human figures from great, but overlooked, old photographs and drawings. His work has been displayed at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, Colorado, and at the La Connor Quilt Museum. "I try to bridge a gap between Art and Craft. To make something that would usually be done one way and make it different with hundreds of pieces of cloth. I reach out to other guys who make quilts and try to inspire others to mash up this-with-that, to celebrate great artists from the past, and to put it all together."
Jack will teach a Portrait Workshop the following day.

Program for January 9: Trunk Show & Design Presentation with Lyne Lusk
Lyne Lusk blends both traditional and contemporary designs in an unorthodox fashion. Each work evolves from an initial block into a piece saturated with the vivid colours of a Mediterranean landscape. Her fascination with the diversity of colours and fabrics combined with the endless possibilities of quilting, is the inspiration which drives her work forward.
Lyne’s work has been exhibited at the National Quilt Show, various Art Shows and Quilt Shows, where she won numerous awards, two from the Ontario Craft Council. Lyne is a member of the York Heritage Quilt Guild in Toronto, Prince Edward Quilters' Guild and more recently she has become a member of the Quinte Modern Quilt Guild. Lyne will be presenting her creative work and also providing the lead-in to a January 19, 2019 workshop, Developing Skills to Make Stunning Quilts. |
