October 11, 2018 Workshop by Jack Edson

Picture

Jack lives in Hamburg, N.Y.  He has been quilting for over 40 years and is well known for his unique portrait style.

Learn Jack Edson's technique of making fabric portraits, through a one day fabric collage workshop.  This technique uses a grid and a wide variety of fabric in warm and cool colors in a variety of tones, plus "drawing" with black fabric.  No sewing, but gluing fabric to a board, so you can explore this technique in a short period of time.  Images for this workshop will be supplied by the instructor and you might be able to complete the project during the class.  This technique is useful for making other imagery in your fabric work.
Ten PECQG members had the good fortune to attend Jack's Portrait Collage Workshop on Thursday October 11, 2018.  It was an inspiring day, totally amazing to watch as Jack created a small section of a portrait in a few short minutes with a few small snips of his scissors and some school glue! Personally, I was blown away by how passionate Jack is about his craft and the 'art world', seeing beauty in each and every ordinary face.  We were truly honoured to have such a wonderful internationally-known speaker visit our small guild.
